A Flag for the Anti-Authoritarian Movement

reading time 2 min

Movements need symbols. Whether it is a logo, a flag, or a secret handshake. They provide visibility to the movement and help people identify members and allies.

The anti-authoritarian (i.e. anti-Trump) movement needs a flag. We need it quickly, and we need to avoid getting dragged down in endless debates about the design.

Personally I think our flag should have three qualities:

  • Simple: 3-4 colors for easy reproduction (I’m nothing if not practical!)
  • Recognizable: Easy to identify instantly.
  • Unifying: Represent a message that welcomes and appeals to liberals, conservatives, and all citizens including past Trump voters who have turned around.

The flag should represent what unites us all: Adherence to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Our allegiance is to the Constitution, not to any particular person or party. Every elected official takes an oath to the constitution, not the president. Every member of our military takes an oath to the Constitution, not the president. The bill of rights protects us all, whether it is our right to freedom of speech, the right to defend ourselves, due process, and so on.

But what flag could do all that? What represents “fighting all the bad things” but more importantly it must mean “support the good things”.

How about this?

I can’t take credit for designing it myself, but I hope you agree it’s pretty nice.

In short, we should reclaim the U.S. flag.

And… here’s the cool part. Imagine if we all start putting that flag in the windows of our homes, cars, and businesses? What is ICE going to do, tell us to take them down? I’d love to see SCOTUS decide whether or not ICE can tell someone to remove the American flag.

Most importantly it sends a clear message: We The People support the constitution. We The People support America. Trump, his administration, and ICE are the anti-Americans. They’re the ones hell-bent on destroying this country. They can get their own damn flag.
